KEuroCalc

KEuroCalc is a universal currency converter and calculator. It can convert from and to many currencies, either with a fixed conversion rate or a variable conversion rate. It directly downloads the latest variable rates through the Internet.

New! KEuroCalc 1.0.0 is out. It is the first version for KDE 4 and has been tested with KDE 4.0.1. It includes the new curconvd D-Bus currency conversion service. The new fixed rates for Slovenian Tolar, Maltese Lira and Cyprus Pound have also been integrated.

KEuroCalc 0.9.7 is the last version for KDE 3.

curconvd

curconvd is another binary package that can be generated from KEuroCalc source package. curconvd is a daemon that acts as a currency conversion service over D-Bus.

It works as follows : the curconvd deamon is started in the background. An application that needs to convert monetary amounts "speaks" to curconvd via D-Bus. The fastest way to do that is to use the D-Bus API. However, a shell script, like the small example that is included with the program, can use an utility like qdbus to communicate with curconvd.

The full documentation of curconvd application programming interface is located in the file API.txt in curconvd directory.
